Effects of maternal immune challenge in late gestation on postpartum maternal behavior. Pregnant mice on gestation day 17 were subjected to the viral mimic PolyI:C (POL) or vehicle (saline, SAL) treatment, and maternal behavior was assessed from postnatal days 1–7. Each individual maternal behavior was expressed as a proportion (in percent) of the total maternal behavioral scores, and is depicted as a function of postnatal days (line plots) as well as average over the 7-days observation period (bar plots).
