Dlx1 mutants performed similarly to their wild-type controls in the spontaneous alternation task, as indicated by the mean (± SEM) of the number of entries into the maze arms (# Entries), percent of spontaneous alteration (%SA), and percent of repeat entries (% Repeat Entries) for the first 2 min (a) and the entire 8 min (b). The chance level of alteration (detemined using probabilities of entries) is 22.22%. All mice performed higher than the chance level. C57BL/6J, n = 20; Dlx1+/+, n = 6; Dlx1−/−, n = 6. * = p < 0.5.
